These steps cover the standard PC Terraria server supplied with our Terraria service. Use a matching vanilla Terraria client; a tModLoader installation is a separate setup and should be checked with support before you change the server.

Prepare your world

  1. Open your service in the game panel and wait for installation to finish.
  2. Review the Startup fields, including World Name, World Size, Difficulty, Max Players and Password. For a brand-new world, choose the generation settings before its first start. Keep the existing world name if you already have progress.
  3. Click Start and follow Console. Initial world generation can take longer than an ordinary restart. Wait until the server finishes loading rather than repeatedly pressing Restart.
  4. Copy the assigned IP or hostname and game port from the panel. Open Terraria and choose Multiplayer → Join via IP. Select your character, enter the address, enter the assigned port when asked, then supply the server password if one is set.

The official Terraria server guide documents the Join via IP method. Use the port assigned to your service rather than a port copied from a general tutorial.

Check your first connection

Confirm that the world and difficulty are the ones you intended, then disconnect and reconnect. If you cannot join, check the client version, password, any character/world-mode restrictions, and the latest console error. The server reference describes the relevant settings.

If the console pauses at an interactive world-selection prompt, do not create a replacement world to get past it. Send Game Servers support your service number and the prompt text so we can check the configured world path. Never post your server password in a public ticket or screenshot.
